Coyotes make 7 trades for playoff run (AP)

Broke or not, the Phoenix Coyotes did some serious beefing up for their playoff run. The team, purchased out of bankruptcy by the NHL as the league tries to work out a deal with a potential buyer, made seven trades shortly before Wednesday's deadline. In the most significant move, Phoenix acquired left wing Wojtek Wolski from the Colorado Avalanche for forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter. [read full article]

The Boston Bruins have traded defenseman Derek Morris to the Phoenix Coyotes and acquired defenseman Dennis Seidenberg from the Florida Panthers in separate deals before the NHL's trade deadline. Coyotes acquire D Schneider from Canucks (AP)

The Phoenix Coyotes have made their third trade of the day, acquiring 40-year-old defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Sean Zimmerman and a conditional draft pick this year. Coyotes recall G Gistedt from ECHL (AP)

The Phoenix Coyotes have recalled goaltender Joel Gistedt from the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. The 22-year-old Gistedt appeared in 10 games with Las Vegas this season, posting a record of 2-5-1 with a 4.64 goals-against average and an .862 save percentage. The Phoenix Coyotes recalled defenseman David Schlemko and forward Brett MacLean from San Antonio of the AHL on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Schlemko has played in 17 games for the Coyotes this season and has one goal and four assists. He had three goals and 12 assists in 36 games with San Antonio. Oilers G Khabibulin facing DUI charges (AP)

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin is facing DUI and speeding charges in Arizona. Scottsdale police say an officer pulled over Khabibulin's Ferrari shortly after midnight on Feb. 8 after the car was clocked at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. The 37-year-old Khabibulin played for the Phoenix Coyotes from 1996-99 and still has a home in Paradise Valley. [read full article]

6 teams to open 2010-11 season in Europe (AP)

Six NHL teams will open the 2010-11 season in Europe, the fourth straight year the league will begin play overseas. The NHL announced on Tuesday that the Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks will combine to play a total of six games in Europe at the start of next season.
